Do you find that your shaking is always in the same extremity or does it move from one to another sporadically? I would think that you would “shake” all over when you have the tremors but for the past month or so it has only been my right hand (I’m left handed). Today, the left one was trembling, too.

It’s not so bad that it’s noticeable to anyone else but it’s definitely there. Putting on mascara is a challenge, and have you tried putting on nail polish?????

I took a beta blocker and that calmed it quite a bit but I’m wondering when the tremors stop. I guess once the blood tests come back in a more normal range, right?

I guess I’m curious if you have one part that always tremors or if it depends on the relapse and changes when it feels like it. It’s been only my right hand for the longest time, and now the left went with it.

I’ve had shaky hands for as long as I can remember, I used to chalk it up to too much caffeine or being nervous but once I started the beta blocker it mostly went away. I have never had shaking in just one hand though. Have you asked your doctor?

Interesting post! When I was hypER, my tremors were always in both hands, and I noticed that they got significantly worse with any type of caffeine intake. Definitely mention this to your doc…and let us know what you find out!

Just after getting my RAI done, i went to get a pedicure. The nail tech noticed my calves twitching uncontrollably. I Bent over to grab my calves to stop them from shaking, and the tech looked up at me and says you get the shakes huh?
    I said yeah sometimes…

My tremors started in my right leg, and over time I noticed them in my right hand, then in my left leg, and finally in my left hand. Initially, they would only happen when I was mildly stressed – like when I was in a hurry to do something. Later, I started noticing them when I was at rest as well. I don’t wear nail polish, but I had a terrible time with mascara, and the eye liner was even worse. I always seem to be running late, so getting ready to go anywhere was enough stress to cause the tremors.

My tremors were always worse on my right side. I also had eyelid retraction only in my right eye, and I have a couple of pink spots on my right leg that I believe to be pretibial myxedema. I asked my endo if it meant anything that all my symptoms seemed to be on the right side of my body. She said it was just a coincidence. My right side is definitely dominant, though. I’m right handed, my right eye is dominant, and even my right calf is larger than my left.

I was already on a beta blocker for my blood pressure when I was diagnosed. My doctor increased my dosage, but it didn’t really affect my tremors. After I started taking methimazole, my tremors gradually became less severe and less frequent until one day I noticed that I wasn’t really having them any more. It took several months for my T3 and T4 to get into the normal range, but the tremors were gone long before that – I think it was just a month or two.

I have a hard time with carrying a heavy pitcher or glass . It is more noticeable then. I went out the other night with my friends and picked up my glass of water and almost dropped it. Very annoying. I get tremors in both hands although right hand more noticeable becasue I use it more (dominant hand). I can deal with these but its the “internal tremors ” that give me the most upset!
