I chose to have a TT as I am nearly 42 and we want to try IVF for another baby, and now we are ready. In 6 weeks my endo got my T4 and TSH levels to the normal and euthyroid range (I am on 88mcg Synthroid), and i feel much better, but people on another forum were asking why my doc has not tested my T3. Is this something I should make sure he gets done before we start the IVF process? And if so why did he or my other endo feel it was important to test before? I don’t want to leave any stoned unturned here since I am almost out of eggs and out of time here!

Hello – I don’t know whether there is a relationship between T3 levels and IVF success. However, since it’s such a simple, inexpensive blood test, it seems like it would be worth it to get this done. You are obviously committing a lot of time and money to this procedure…and if one extra test helps you start the process with total piece of mind, it would make sense to me to move forward!
