Thank you so much for your post – it’s great to have you back!!

I appreciate your positive post as I just had RAI last Monday. I haven’t felt different in the past week and know I will. That uncertainty is scary, but I agree, I never want to be that sick again.

I’ve had to remind myself that although I’m so much closer now to my goal weight and there’s a REALLY good chance I will gain it all back, the weight loss hasn’t been healthy. I have a hard time walking up stairs, getting off the floor, etc.

I have a wonderful endo (She also has Grave’s and had RAI two months ago) which has been a godsend – just like this board!!

Haven’t read the board for a while but I see that there are new posts with lots of questions.

After working with my endocrinologist for over two years I am on the road to being stable. Tomorrow I go to see my endocrinologist for ‘final’ check on my levels. If all is within normal limits he will turn my care over to my primary care physician and have me check in once a year. Six weeks after RAI I was extremely hypo including lethargy, depression, fluid retention, weight gain. With the addition of Synthroid I have slowly gotten better. It is slow going but I will be patient. Still have to watch it when exercising, it takes longer for my muscles to recover. One thing I do know is that I never want to be that sick again.

Just started following the South Beach diet plan. I am feeling much less bloated and the weight is coming down. It appears to be a well thought out, research based plan. I am hoping that my cholesterol numbers will improve too.

For those who are in the blackest days of this battle, hang in there, it may not seem like but things will get better.
