Hi all! I never really believed, or knew the full impact, of stress coupled with Graves’ disease. I now understand more fully what some of you are going through. The last month has been stress-filled. Like many of you, our weather has been so unpredictable this winter. In SW Minnesota we’ve been dealing with above-average snowfall, high winds, low temps, and scary driving conditions. To add to that, my faithful companion of ten years, Lacey my German Shepherd dog, has been very sick. Through all of this, my eyes have become more puffy and irritated. You can tell when I’m worried about the weather or Lacey just by looking at my eyes! Mornings are the worst. It’s been seven years since RAI and three years since decompression surgery, etc. My eyes have never looked better – until this month. Stress definitely plays a part in GD!!
Looking forward to Spring, Debby
P.S. Lacey died yesterday during a blizzard warning. My heart is broken.
My heart goes out to you, sorry about Lacy. Spring will come!
CarolynDebby – my heart goes out to you. Only pet owners can understand – a part of the family has gone. I’ve lost two Basenjis, one way too early. I say I can’t go through it again but I know one of these days I will see puppies and that will be it. Stress very much affects my eyes. The days after the nights I don’t sleep, and when I don’t sleep I worry, are particularly bad. Everyone notices at work. When I have had a few days off and am more relaxed they seem better. I had my CAT scan on Tuesday and see the Dr. next Tuesday. We will then see what the next step is. We had a very bad storm in Vancouver, worst in 75 years, but it was nothing from what I see on the news you are experiencing. Actually I love the snow but that is because we get two or three snowfalls a year!! The next days will be hard, but remember the good times and take it one day at a time. Take care. SAS
