Regarding food and overall nutrition I guess. Keep a mental or written diary of food you eat. Typically pulse and heart may go up after eating sugars. Now sugars actually mean sugar, fruit (is loaded with fructose), pasta (starches turn to sugar) honey, maple syrup or any of those artificial sweetners, corn syrup, fructose and other sugar ingredients in food. Once you read labels you’ll be surprised on how much sugar is actually in food. Maybe you’ll discover what makes you speed after you eat by process of diary and elimination of foods. Good Luck! New at this, Best regards, Tricia

    Sherri:
Yes, I have the same sensation after eating. Good to know I’m not alone as well.
Eating light meals and avoiding sweets seems to help.

Hi all! Quick question – Do any of you experience raciness and increased pulse rate after you eat? I’m finding that if my pulse and raciness has been under control, after I eat, it all speeds up. Are there specific foods other than stimulants that people with GD should avoid, and do any of you experience this feeling? Thank you all for your help. This BB has been so helpful over the past few months – it’s nice to know I’m not alone. Thanks Again!

I had a bad reaction to grapefruit on Christmas morning. I was told later it does change the chemical balance of your meds in your system & should not be eated for as long as you take some medications – as always ask your doctor!

Yes, I experience palpitations when I eat things with a lot of MSG in them. I never noticed this problem before Graves’ and RAI.
