Okay,
So here is the deal people…lol. I got my first 6 week blood draw since I started synthroid. My levels came back normal with a TSH of .04. They told me normal is .03-1.0. My dose is still 75mcg and my endo is keeping me on that dose. HOWEVER, I am allergic to synthroid (in my opinion) LOL. My upper and bottom lips have been swollen since I started taking Synthroid. I have to go see my endo tomorrow cause he IS certain it has NOTHING to do with my synthroid. I keep telling him my lips have never been swollen until I started synthroid, and he wont switch me brand names until he see’s my LIPs. Ugh, why can’t he JUST believe me. I mean why would I LIE about swollen lips?? Serisouly?? Anyway. I really wasn’t expecting my levels to be normal because I still have emotional, moody, off balance days SO I GUESS THE ONLY THING HYPO BROUGHT WAS A NORMAL HEART RATE…I tire easily but its getting WAY better and I still feel like im wall hugging, however I noticed those days are when I DONT take synthroid on an empty stomach. Sometimes I wake up STARVING and cant wait a FREAKING HOUR…. on the positive note…I am going to class EVERYDAY. I can concentrate on the proffessor/labs and I am REALLY starting to feel like ME AGAIN. I mean I still have my off days but compared to 6 weeks ago when my off days were my better days. I CAN’T COMPLAIN. I have about 1 bad day a week compared to 8 bad days a week. HAHA. I am so sorry I have been absent to the foundation. I am sooo super busy with classes, tests, studying, labs, partner work and finding a job. I usually find myself falling asleep on my books haha… Ill be on tomorrow to post and get re connected with everyone. TTYL…krystal ” title=”Smile” />
Krystal,
Glad to hear that you are doing so well. The brand that I am taking levoxyl doesn’t have the same inactives as synthroid. The povidone in synthroid and some other meds is what I think was making me itch on my generic methimazole. Good luck with your lips. That must feel awful somedays. I too was leary of doing the hormone in the morning as I have to get up and go and that hour is hard. I asked my pharmacist and she told me that I could take it at night right before I go to bed. I just don’t eat anything after say 8-8:30 so that’s about 2.5 hours for me before I go to sleep.ewmb
Hey Krystal! Good to hear from you! Sounds like the bad days are getting fewer and fewer, WTG! I now totally understand what you mean when you say "wall hugging" lol, I was like what on earth is wall hugging? Well, I GET IT. haha. Sometimes it’s more like floor-hugging when I just lay on the floor and feel like I am plastered there. So, we went from bouncing off the walls to wall hugging. Fun w/Graves’! Have you lost any weight since taking the replacement? Or managed to stay the same? That’s my biggest gripe right now. Well, I’m glad you’re doing okay and look forward to catching up more when you get time!
Actually you are not along in having problems with the replacment hormone. Most people are not allergic to the drug but have problems with the fillers that make the pill. The medication is identical to what our body produces that may be why your doctor says it can’t be the pill.
But it can be the fillers that make the pill. If you do have that problem there are makers of the drug that make them with different fillers to stop that problem.
As for the full lips? You saved money on shots to make your lips fuller. Bonus, LOL.
Really get with your doctor and see what he has to say. The .50 dose is the one with the fewest fillers and colors added to make the pill. Let us know how you make out witht he doctor and the pills.
We are only a click away.
Krystal,
I agree with Jake. Get your doctor to see your lips and talk about changing. The information I got from the DI center when I was checking was that synthroid and one other one had the povidone in it that I didn’t want to take. Jake’s right about the dye but the other things are what I would worry about too.ewmb
Hey:)
So I went to my endo, FOR WHAT? It was a WASTE OF MY TIME. He says IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH MY SYNTH and my lips don’t even look swollen…UMMM OHHKAY. I wish I could post a pic of my lips on here and let you all see what I see. LOL. He prescribed me Levoxy however I guess they are the same fillers. So the pharm said it wouldnt do any justice for me. My endo said he could prescribe me the 50mcg and I could take a pill and a half. How annoying is that? I am just sooo irritated. I just want ONE person to ACTUALLY LISTEN to me. Is that really too hard to ask? He walked in the room and instead of saying hi he said and I quote "Why we blaming everything on synthroid" My response was because none of this happended UNTIL I started taking it so IT WOULD MAKE SENSE TO ME TO QUESTION THE MEDICATION. He looked at me, wrote a script and said try this if it doesnt work we will try the other option. I said okay and walked out of the room before him. I AM A PEED OFF GRAVES HYPO PATIENT STILL. LOL…I am just so sick of trying to please everyone and no ONE cares about my feelings and this goes beyond the STUPID DUMB SYNTHROID… ugh….
Krystal,
The levoxyl doesn’t have exactly the same inactive ingredients as synthroid. You can google the name of the drug and usually the company will have the listing of the chemical actives and inactives there so you can compare words even if you don’t know exactly what they are. I’m sorry that he was so uncaring yesterday. That seems silly to discount the fact that your problems with your lips started when you started the medication. I hope that your puffiness will go away soon. Buy a little pill cutter at the drugstore. It’s much easier and safer than a knife. I go ahead and cut about a weeks worth at a time so I don’t have to cut each day.ewmb
