I just got my levels checked again (t4 was 3.00 and tsh was 0.02) so my dr wants me to cut my 300mcg in half ” title=”Sad” /> i’m frustrated because my body finally feels good. I can’t sleep and am anxious but hell, I can deal with that after 6 yrs of feeling like crap all the time.
Now I’m frustrated because they think I could be diabetic. It seems like I get everything in my family, first Graves, now this.
Is there any link between the two?
If you read the link below you will learn a little bit. They are both autoimmune diseases.
Not being able to sleep, and anxiety are associated with too much thyroid hormone, as you probably know. Endo might want to decrease dose based on your labs and your symptoms. That does not mean you will be hypo, you might feel a lot better, something to consider.
If they think you might be diabetic, there are labs that are specific to diabetes. Did they do fasting blood sugars?
Have they told you why they think that?
So, sounds like you need to have an appointment with your doc to discuss the diabetes thing. Not sure how you felt like crap, was it hypo feelings?
Here is the link from NIH

ShirleyI’m not being treated by an endo because the first i had was awful and wouldnt listen to me. The second I had didn’t feel comfortable treating me so now it’s just my family doctor. He did every test possible because I will lose my parents insurance in november when I turn 26. My hypo symptoms were unbearable. The worst for me was lower back muscle spasms and just sooo much pain in my body.
This is the third time my sugar levels were high after a 12 hr fast. The labs say they were 136. So I’m getting another test, A1 I think is what they called it, this week to determine what my baseline sugar levels are.
Its like I just can’t win. I don’t know if I can deal with all this stuff while working 3 jobs and trying to get my masters degree, and when I lose my insurance. I can’t afford to pay for everything out of pocket. My life is frustrating…
Hello – I just posted this link in another thread, but this site will let you search for free or reduced-cost clinics by zip code. (You will need to click your browser’s "back" button to return to the boards after viewing).

Once your insurance expires, you will definitely want to connect with a center that can help you get regular tests done, regardless of your insurance/financial status.
AshleyP, I KNOW how you feel, I TOO went thru something very similar and was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes last year, I felt like I got ALL the crappy mess from my parents gene pool too and it’s been a bit of a struggle! I have been trying to take a more holistic approach to this dis-ease because I don’t want to be a slave to meds which could end up hurting me long-term. It is my sincereset hope that you’ll be able to find and incorporate some holistic methods in your healing process as well and I truly wish you ALL the best!
