Hi Karen,
Glad to hear that you are feeling better! Yes, sleep is nice too – it seems to make a world of difference for everything.
Just wondering – if you don’t mind me asking, if you do – sorry & just ignore – what were you feeling?
As you may have noticed, I too will be having RAI (this Friday) and I am very nervous/anxious about the whole thing. I would really just like to leave it all alone and do nothing, but it’s come to the point where I really should do something. Although for some reason, I seem to have a gut feel that something is going to go wrong – not sure what, but just have a nagging feeling that something might happen (either to me, or to my family) after having RAI & during my quarantine period.
Any symptoms post RAI would be helpful for me to be on the lookout for seeing as how I will be 2+ hours away from home and alone so I should kinda know what may happen as there will be no one there to ‘look out’ for me and cell phone service is really crappy too.
Thanks so much.
I’m sure you’ll hear back from our "current patient" very soon, but I just wanted to let you know that, for the most part, we take RAI and, for the first couple of weeks, it seems like nothing happens. Some people get a slightly sore throat, but overall there’s really nothing to expect in those first couple of days. Over the counter painkillers should deal with the sore throat easily enough if you get it, and after that it’s really just a little time to yourself. That’s what it was for me anyway ~ I didn’t have the sore throat, didn’t get the "dumping" after two weeks, nothing. Eventually I went hypo, so I know it was real ” title=”Very Happy” /> but other than that I had nothing special to deal with for the first couple of days. Just loneliness. ” title=”Wink” />
No need to be nervous about rai, i guess everyone feels differently though. I just wanted to get it over with. As far as being away from home afterwards, i went straight home. I took alot precautions, I have two girls at home, 13 and 9. I stayed away from them, wash my hands alot and flushed 3 times. My husband helped out on cooking and cleaning ” title=”Smile” /> . After the 4th day I started to do light housework, but still being careful.
After my RAI the only side effects I got was a slight sore throat, abdominal cramps. I’m still feeling hyper somewhat, but that is expected, I take Beta Blockers when I feel I need to. But not so much as when I first came home, I was taking 20mgs 4x a day, now I’ve only needed one in two days.
I will be praying for you, Take care, Karen ” title=”Wink” />hi, it’s been 13 days since rai, i’m feeling alot better than the first few days, i’m actually back on my feet, walked 2 miles last night. i slept so good. that’s the first time i’ve slept over an hour, i actually slept 9 hrs. WOW!! i hope and pray to god i continue feeling better.
this is a great site, its nice to actually chat wit people that understand what ur saying. thank you Karen ” title=”Very Happy” /> -
