    Hi usfkd,

Honestly, I haven’t heard of a loss of peripheral vision being attributable to Thyroid Eye Disease. What I’ve heard of with vision damage due to TED has to do with the optic nerve being compressed, and I don’t believe that makes you lose vision in one particular AREA, but I could be wrong. Honestly, if you have been under the care of an opthalmologist, they would have known if it was TED, I think. If you’re curious, that’s the person to ask.

As far as Graves’ the thyroid condition, THAT would definitely not cause anything to do with the vision.

Graves’ and TED are related, but they are not the same disease. Some people get one and not the other, though I think there is some good evidence that all Graves’ thyroid patients have SOME degree of TED, even if it is not visible.

I would definitely go back to the opthalmologist and get some expert advice on what’s happening now. These symptoms are nothing to ignore.
