Several of the facilitators and support group leaders have had decompression surgeries. Many of them still feel that they look different than they did before the disease started, but I can tell you from meeting them all personally, that most of them have eyes that look completely normal to the rest of us.
Sometimes it is necessary for strabismus surgeries to realign the muscles of the eyes after decompression. This type of surgery, though, is significantly more benign (from the descriptions Jake has written) than the decompression. You might be able to see Jake’s descriptions from some old posts called “Eye Surgery 101” — or something close.
I know you are disappointed right now, but I hope you will keep your spirits up. You are closing in on having eyes that work together better. I hope you see good results, and soon.
Hugs,
Bobbi — NGDF Online Facilitator
