hi, it is probably a very good idea to have a thyroid panel done, too. TSH T3 T4. sometimes our thyroid dose needs to e adjusted up or down. So I would do that the very first thing if you have not had labs recently. It is good that you are following up with your doc, but try to get these labs done first so you have more to talk about. You mY find that your thyroid hormone status may be related to other symptoms, but as you said, that is the puzzle you can begin to figure out with your doctor, I am guessing you are in Great Britain? I would begin with the thyroid information , then proceed to specialists if you need to do that with your gyn symptoms. as you know, 35 is early for peri menopause, And all this female hormonal stuff can be related to thyroid status, usually hypo.
do write back when you have more info.

sure hope you get some relief and information soon.Even though my timeline is somewhat the same (first peri symptoms appearing about a year after OD), – but I was in my mid-40s at OD . 2.5 years post-OD now, my peri symptoms are still very minimal – just harder to pinpoint on the calendar, and some weight gain, but no bloating, no hot flashes, no mood swings (yet!). I do attribute these few signs to my age rather than OD.
How is your family history of menopause and fertility? If a primary physician is of no help, maybe an ob/gyn or reproductive endocrinologist could do a full lab test and go over them with you.
Hello,
Sorry for posting on quite a sensitive issue but I have a few questions. Of course I will be visiting my own doctor but I was wondering what other people’s opinions might be on this topic.Firstly, I was diagnose with Graves disease at 19. I was treated eventually with RAI as my other meds failed to bring the condition under control. Thankfully all my symptoms are now gone, however I now have to take thyroxine every day. I had Orbital decompression surgery a couple of years ago. Just after the op I noticed changes in my cycle and at first I just put this down to the stresses of having had two lots of quite major surgery. Unfortunately things appear to be getting worse on this front. I’m not one for self-diagnosis via the Internet but when I read up I appear to be experiencing something called the peri-menopause – longer cycles, shorter periods, extreme bloating, migraines, weight gain, crazy mood swings etc. 9I went to the doctor because of the migraines. One of the blood tests he ordered revealed raised Oestrogen. He didn’t seem unduly alarmed by this.)
Firstly, I’m 35. I thought I would be a little too young to experience this stage of life. I also worry about the consequences this has for my fertility. I know this drops off dramatically in your late 30s but most of my friends are not having the same symptoms I am having. Are there any links between Graves and early menopause? Apart from fertility, I know this has other consequences for your general health.
Sorry to be a complete hypochondriac but this is playing on my mind and not helping with the crazy mood swings I mentioned earlier! Of course I will do the sensible thing and speak to my doctor but I would be grateful for anybody else’s opinions or insights!
Thanks!
