I may have an opportunity to donate plasma for big $$ because of my thyroid condition (Graves). I guess they are in need of "special" plasma with people who have autoimmune disorders. I can make up to $500 a donation if I have the right stuff they are looking for! <img decoding=” title=”Very Happy” />

My doctor never screened me for TPO or TG – the antibodies, so I went and got some bloodwork done today to get my TPO checked to see if I qualify for the big $$$

    Anyone ever heard of this?

The website I found this on – Accessclincal.com

    Wow,

I was not aware of this possibility. I did some internet research and it appears to be legit for research. I would be interested to hear what they tell you as to your ability to donate.

We encourge research in the Graves’ foundation and have in the past donated blood en mass at our conferences to researchers. If you can get a few bucks and help research all the better.

    Keep us informed.

Well, I just found out that I didn’t qualify since my TPO levels for my antibodies were at 16 – which is in "normal range" and they are looking for people who’s ranges are over 34! :o

Oh well, at least I tried.

Anyone else who wants to check this out, get your TPO or TG levels checked and if they are over 34 – they will be VERY interested in you – and like I said, you can make up to $500 per donation!

Thanks for sharing this, it is certainly interesting.

Elevated TPO antibodies are apparently much more common in patients with Hashimoto’s disease and can be evidence of Thyroid tissue destruction. A smaller percentage of Graves’ patients may have elevated TPO antibodies as well, but it isn’t quite as common apparently.

My father has Hashimoto’s and his TPO antibodies are off the map high. I’ve had my TPO antibodies tested recently and I am well within the normal range, although I don’t recall off hand what that number was. I wish I could remember what the reference ranges were . . . my dad was a 200!
