    Hello Christa,

The Graves’ Disease Foundation is looking for volunteers who may qualify to help organize support groups in their community. SG have leaders who are trained and approved by GDF. Our goal is to expand Support Groups throughout the US.

I encourage members of GDF to discuss with Nancy (see her recent post), the upcoming Support Group Leaders training at the end of February. This is a great opportunity for folks on the East Coast to get involved with the Foundation. You can help other patients and caregivers and become a representative of GDF.

There is a commitment if you accept to have at least quarterly meetings once you get back home. The Foundation will work with you on PR, finding a meeting place, and a physician who will oversee the support group activities.

If you would like to discuss this opportunity please contact Nancy at Nancyngdf@bellsouth.net.

    Thank You,
    Peter Filocamo, President

    Hi,

I was wondering if anyone on here is from the Charleston, SC area. I live in Goose Creek and was wondering if anyone might want to get together and talk or get a support group together.

    Hi Christa,

If you will get in touch with me, I will try to put you in touch with others in your area. That’s one way we help with support groups. We have an excellent data base, and can search by city, area code, state and ZIP codes. I know a couple of wonderful doctors in your area. e started to have a support group in Charleston many years ago. There were over 200 people at the initial meeting. Sad to say it did not get off the ground. I have learned many things: have the leaders; have them trained; have the next meeting date; have the place–all of those need to be in place first! My e-mail is nancyngdf@bellsouth.net.
