Today I am not only already tired, since 4 hours of sleep interrupted by hallucinations doesn’t seem to be enough, but I am hungry, again, and ice cold. And I mean all the way through ice cold. Got the heat cranked up but it’s not helping. Hands and feet are cold and even my nose.
I read that some people are heat sensitive, it seems I’m the other way. Maybe I have to move back to southern Nevada to finally get warm.
I would send you all a hug but I would have to peel out of all these clothes for that.Barbra.
Hello – Cold intolerance can potentially be a symptom of hypo. Each patient is different, but other hypo symptoms can include fatigue, joint pain, unexplained weight gain, constipation, dry skin, and slow pulse.
If I am remembering correctly, you started on anti-thyroid drugs a few weeks ago. Hopefully, you have a follow up appointment soon to get labs done, as the initial dosage often needs to be tweaked to keep patients out of hypO territory. If not, I would call your doctor’s office to ask for a quicker appointment.
Take care!
Blood work was done a week ago and I haven’t heard anything from my doctor. My appointment is on Friday and unless he comes up with some really good answers I’ll be looking for an Endocrinologist.
I’m beginning to think that my doctor does not know what to do and, what’s worse, does not have the guts to say so.Hi Barbra. Don’t wait for your doctor. Most laboratories today allow you to view your results immediately online. Most are available within 24 hours. If not, call your doctor’s office and have them fax, email, or read them off to you. With this disease we’ve all learned that you have to be an active partner with your medical team and if your team doesn’t welcome that or isn’t doing what you need/want then maybe it’s time to find a new team!
Cheers!
Karen
Hi. Get in the shower or under an electric blanket, maybe that will help.
I seem to get chills. I got a themonitor to measure my temperature. It is changing every 10 minutes.
I wonder if both of us have a virus too!
Good luck.
It’s always possible to have a virus, although today I seem to be much better. I finally got warm enough to even please me.
It comes and goes.
Thanks for all the good advice and thoughts.Hugs.
Barbra.Hi Barbra,
I am always cold as well. Even while I was extremely hyper. And when I say cold, I mean right down to the bones. My daily temp barely moves over 36.5. All winter I need to wear 3 layers of clothes including my winter jacket inside. And yes, having a hot shower helps for a bit. I also find that the more tired I am, the colder I get, to the point my lips turn purple. I can’t even eat cold salads or drink cold water. In the winter I am probably dehydrated because I just can’t drink anything cold, I would rather stay thirsty …
It is definitely a different type of cold. But as Kimberly said, being cold is also a hypo symptom. I would call and get your labs.
I am cold ALL THE TIME! My TSH is always suppressed. Not just a LITTLE cold but bone cold. I’m always drinking hot water Would not dream of drinking anything cold. Sounds terrible. My symptoms are hyPO but my TSH is way below .01, usually in the .006 range. Makes not sense. Much prefer to be hot. Being cold is terrible. Want to crawl in bed with the electric mattress pad on high.
ShirleyI am the exact same way Shirley! It has gotten to the point that when my kids use the oven, they call me down to the kitchen. Because god forbid I waste all that oven heat! So you can usually see me sticking my head in the oven.
But here is a tip:
You know those arm bands you use for like tennis? Wear those. They really help.
Also, I cut the foot out of fuzzy socks and wear them around my knees. Once I have my wrists and knees covered, it does help take the edge off.My goodness, I am so glad I am not alone. I always read that heat intolerance is a symptom from hyper but I too feel chilled to the bone at times, like when you are starting to get sick……I was wearing a sweater the other day when it was in the 70’s. Felt like my grandmother! She always walked around with a sweater on lol Any how….I have to have labs checked too since it has been about a month on ATD. ……
Love to all! Geri
