    Hi all,

    It me again, Shakira7.
Along with Graves disease symptom that started in July (hair loss, reduced period, palpitation), I also find blood in my phlegm. I am not coughing at all, but it’s probably the 4th time since July, that I would force spit out (sorry, I know it’s gross) blood-stained phegm.

Is this part of the Graves disease symptom??
Is bloody phlegm linked to thyroid?

Gosh, it’s already a lot in my head to accept the fact that I’ve been diagnosed with Graves disease, but I really hope this bloody phlegm is not a sign of another serious problem.

In April, I had a chest xray done and everything came out normal.

Hello – I’m not familiar with this being linked to Graves’/thyroid issues, but I would absolutely mention it to your doctor. And if it becomes more frequent or if you are coughing up large quantities, I would visit the ER to get it checked out ASAP.

    Hello Shakira7,

I’m sorry to hear you are having some problems. If you are taking the Methimazole, it can affect the liver and when the liver is affected you can bleed easier so I would definitely call the Dr. Whether is the Methimazole or not, blood in phlegm should be reported if it is not a one time event. It happened to me once but only once. It could be nothing, such as dryness but better safe than sorry, right?

    Please keep us posted.

    Caro :)

Thank you, Kimberly and Carito, for your suggestion; today, I rushed to a walk-in clinic. The doctor told me she’s not worried about this, but if I am still concerned, then I can see an ENT.

@Carito, thank you for your concern; i only started the Methamizole this morning, so I don’t think it comes from the medication.
He only prescribed me 5mg per day for the next 6 weeks.

    :)
