You should follow your doctor’s advice, favor. Stopping your meds could cause you some problems, just how severe, I cannot say. you need to sit down and discuss your fears with your doctor- today.
As for Graves’ being life-threatening, Yes, it can, if left untreated.
This disease is managable, if you foloow the treatment plan handed down to you. often, people cannot accept this and don’t follow these. Then they wonder why they are having all the problems and who tends to get blamed, their doctors!
What I want to say to you is this: there will always be differences in opinions. However, when talking with the experts in the field, you will find the same three treatment options mentioned as the way to manage your disease.
When you say your meds were recalled, are you referring to synthroid?
This particular drug has been recalled a couple of times. There was a class action lawsuit over this. I have not heard of a current recall, however. When they have recalled, it has usually been a certain dosage of the drug, not all of it. If this is what you are referring to, please, don’t panic, there are other options. If your doctor wasn’t alarmed, then I would wonder if in fact, the dosage you take was not on that recall? Why not call him and discuss this instead of stressing(which you truly don’t need!)?
