Hi guys, would love to know if anyone can answer my question.

. i had the racing heart, was in the hospital over night, pressure high while in hospital found out my thyroid was out of wack.

Saw a endo after being release from hospital, many tests was done, discovered i was HYPO, was losing lots of weight in the process. in the frist 3 months on meds for my racing heart mellow out was taking off that and continued my meds for my hypo. in the 6 MONTH ON MY MEDS IN THE SAME YEAR, I was taken off ALL meds cause of that same year 2013 on November I went in remission and as of now i’m still in remission, my doctor was lost, he said that’s RARE! and i have been the subjects of talk when he goes to conferences…

I’m still in remission 2 years later. THANK YOU LORD.

Anyone has any thoughts on why I went in remission so fast in 9 month of the same year ..thanks for your input.

Hello and welcome – We are fellow patients here, not doctors, but that’s certainly a puzzle why you were diagnosed as hypothyroid when your symptoms (weight loss, rapid heart rate) were more hyperthyroid.

For patients who are hyperthyroid because of Graves’ disease, the disease can go into remission.

For patients who are hyperthyroid because of thyroiditis, this issue can also resolve, but most patients with this condition eventually end up hypothyroid.

I’ve also heard of patients going hyper or hypo after a pregnancy and then having levels return to normal.

Were you diagnosed with a specific condition?

Hello – It sounds like the site you found had hypo/hyper reversed.

Common symptoms of hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid) are rapid heart rate, weight loss, tremors, insomnia, etc..

Common symptoms of hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid) are fatigue, constipation, cold intolerance, weight gain, and joint pain.

With Graves’ disease, patients are usually hyper/overactive, but can sometimes become hypo/underactive. Graves’ antibodies usually stimulate the thyroid, but sometimes they can actually block production of thyroid hormone, causing hypothyroidism. In other cases, patients have Hashimoto’s thyroiditis in addition to Graves’, which causes destruction of thyroid tissue and hypothyroidism.

Yep. I think you have them reversed, also. You have all the classic symptoms of hyper. Do NOT stop taking your ATD’s. You need them. ATD is anti thyroid drug, methimazole is one.
