Is it possible to have liver issues/ white blood cell issues on methimazole, but NOT have any of the symptoms for it (fever, chills, sore throat etc)? The methimazole seems to be working well for me, and I’d be upset if I had to stop it (but would obviously if I had liver issues!). My first labs to check how I’m doing aren’t for another 6 weeks, but I was curious.

Thanks for answering my questions- I appreciate it.

Hello – This would be a good question for your doc, as I’m not sure how early in the process symptoms start to appear.

Perhaps if any other posters have had issues with liver/WBC that were picked up in labs without being symptomatic, they will chime in here.

    Take care!

You won’t necessarily feel a low WBC count unless you pick up an infection and cannot fight it off. You wouldn’t want to wait until you “felt” it…..

As to liver issues, that’s a question for your doctors. If you are turning yellow, that’s a real indication that your liver is in peril. And, again, I don’t think you want to wait that long. But there might be slight elevations in liver enzymes that your doctor will tell you are OK.
