Try to learn as much as you can when you go to the doctor again. I am presuming he ordered that test, with some related tests, prompted by some symptoms you have. I am sure if anyone can relate to this with the same situation, you will probably hear from them. I can’t think of much more to say right now, other than I am glad you are seeing him again soon to discuss your health and the labs.
ShirleySo my new endo did the ANA test to see if I could have lupus and it came back positive. I see him again Thurs. anyone else have positive ana?
I am.. I really like my new doc. Unfortunately he doesn’t deal with Lupus so now I will need to see him 96 miles away and a rheumatologist 50 miles away in the other directions ” title=”Sad” /> I also have a referral in to test eye pressure.. I think my husband is at his wits end with all these diagnosis not sure if he could handle another ” title=”Sad” />(((((.
I have RA and while doing reasearch found out that if you have one autoimune disease you have a much higher likeilyhood of getting another … lupus is not anything to fool arround with so get to the dr. asap I wish you all the luck I know it is difficult to have multiple diseases can be difficult to understand whitch one is causing what???? bless ya
Hello – Hopefully, your doc discussed this with you, but keep in mind that the ANA test is just a *screening* test for Lupus and a few other autoimmune disorders. It’s comparable to the TSH test which indicates that there is *some* thyroid issue…but it doesn’t specifically diagnose Graves’ or Hashimoto’s or any other thyroid disorder.
Your doctor will be able to work with you on the next steps towards getting a correct diagnosis and treatment for your symptoms.
Best of luck!
