No simple answer to your question. I hope that you will have a visit/discussion with the doc who ordered the labs. If you do look it up, you find that it can mean something..or nothing. It is age related, symptom related, and lots of other stuff.
Complex question. Pretty much same answer to your next question. The facilitators will do a better job answering, but basically, the TSH is suppressed, could be that for several reasons. Depends on your symptoms, if feeling hyper. The lab ranges vary a little bit through out this country and internationally, but generally, TSH range is 0,4-5, or very similar to that. ARe you seeing and endo? Do you have another appt? Maybe if you write some more about yourself, perhaps a bit of history? I did not check before I answered this to see when you joined, but I can assure you this is the best place to get ssupport for thyroid issues. I am just another person with TED and thyroid issues, not a professional by any means. But if you are joining our "club," I suggest you find an endocrinologist familiar with thyroid issues. That doc might suggest a rheumatologist. I sure am sorry you have the labs without any knowledge to go along with it. It will be a long weekend, but hope by the beginning of the week you can talk with the doc who ordered them, for there probably were some good reasons, based on what you told him about how you were/are feeling! I am sure you will hear from others, just wanted you to have a reply, even if not full of answers!

I was diagnosed with GD fifteen years ago and treated with Radioactive Iodine. I felt fine until I had my son 7 years ago. That is when I started feeling so tired. I thought it was because I am an older mother (46). so I have just been dealing with being extremely tired. Well now my hair is falling out, my skin is so dry and cracked , I am so irritated, my memory is terrible, my stomach is irritated after I eat. I also have pain in my hips, thighs, back. After posting this on the GD site, I learned a lot about my disease and discovered that I was not taking my medicine properly. I have been taking my medicine properly for quite some time and felt a lot better. I decided now was a good time to get my blood tested. I received my test results in the mail today and I am lost. I appear to be hyper!

Does anyone know if a positive ANA with titer 1:32 and a speckled pattern have anything to do with my graves disease. I just received my blood test results and I have no idea what that means.

    Thanks!

Hello – I know that the ANA test can screen for *possible* autoimmune disorders, such as SLE, Sjogren’s, scleroderma, and Rheumatoid Arthritis. Further testing is required following a positive result to determine a correct diagnosis. However, I am not familiar with the ANA being used as a screen for Graves’ Disease, perhaps because there are a couple of specific antibody tests (TRab and TSI) that are used in making a Graves’ diagnosis.

You mentioned receiving results in the mail. Are you ordering the labs on your own, or do you have a doctor working with you? The facilitators on this board are not trained medical professionals, so a doctor would be the best resource for further information.

    Hi,
Before my grave’s diagnosis, they ran an ANA test on me. They told me it was to see if I had Lupus. Maybe thats not all it tests for, I don’t know but thats what they told me! I am surprised they didn’t tell you why they ran the test! Hope you get some answers soon.
