    Hi Tami,

That’s great, thanks so much for the news!

Sounds like a good time to draw new levels, but keep in mind that it can take up to six weeks just to flush the excess thyroid hormone out of your system, so it may be a couple more weeks before you can really get an effective lab result. Of course, even after that, you can expect the RAI to continue to make some changes in your thyroid hormone levels for up to six months. If your levels show that you are hypothyroid now, it certainly should be treated, but keep checking. Again, the recommendation I heard was to wait six weeks after starting a new dose of thyroid hormone replacement, to allow the body to adjust completely. Testing and adjusting meds much sooner can be frustrating.

The important thing right now is that you feel better, so congratulations!

    Keep us updated! :-)

Well, I am happy to report that I have had few problems since the RAI on 12-5-07. On day 9, my throat felt constricted, but not painful; that lasted about 5 days. I weaned myself off of the Lopressor after the first three weeks because my blood pressure felt too low. I have been feeling great the past couple of weeks.

Will have new labs this week, and follow up appointment next week. Sure would be great if this would last!!

    Tami
