Pretty much every hospital has a charity care department.

Call and ask and speak to the person.

Here is how my local hospital handles charity care:

All that’s required are copies of your last four paycheck stubs and that’s about it. They don’t even ask you what your assets are or even how much you earn per year.

After that, you’re issued a card that is good for a year; any hospital invoice you get you make a copy of the card, attach it to the invoice and then return the invoice to the billing office where it is sent.

Can I borrow your check stubs? lol (ha, I made a funny  ) I had been on the decline since Dec. of 06; so I was upset- but not really upset when I was fired from my job in May 07. Since then, I had been getting unemployment and still looking for a job. In Nov. 07 it got to the point I couldn’t do anything (also I was 2mths pregnant). When I’m pregnant I’m not able to do anything but go to the bathroom, because I miscarry very easy. So, I had my son in Jun 08 and here I am now; miserable.

The Polk County Board of County Commissioners established a Citizens Health Care Oversight Committee (COC) to ensure the integrity of the expenditure of the indigent health care sales tax, to provide a forum for citizen participation in health care planning, and to bring community concerns and problems regarding health care to the attention of the citizen’s oversight committee.

    Meetings
The Citizens Health Care Oversight Committee (COC) meets the third Friday of each month from 8:30 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. in the Board Room of the County Administration Building, located at 330 West Church Street, Bartow, Florida.
