Hello – I’m sorry to hear your little one is going through this. We are fellow patients here, not doctors, so we aren’t allowed to interpret labs or give medical advice — but the following will hopefully provide you with some general info and resources.
The latest medical guidance (which you can find in the “Treatment Options” thread in the announcements section at the top of the forum) notes that antibody testing can be used for diagnosis of Graves’ in lieu of the RAIU uptake & scan. However, the recommendation there is to use a different antibody test (TRAb instead of TSI). This might be worth reviewing with your daughter’s doctor.
We have a couple of nice videos on children and Graves’ on our YouTube channel. One of them specifically goes through the pros and cons of the different treatment options. Also, there is a Facebook group that was started by two of our members who have children with Graves’. This is not an official group moderated or controlled by the Graves’ Disease and Thyroid Foundation, but includes many parents who have come together to share their personal experiences. It’s a closed group, but you can request to join, and the organizers will approve you if you let them know you are a parent of a Graves’ patient.
