    Howdy folks,
First of all, thank you for all your collective sage advice over the years, I have on more than one occasion perused the board for knowledge!
I am 7 years post RAI, and the past 2 months have been hell- panic attacks, confusion, lack of focus, now palpitations and rapid heart rate. Guess what? It has also taken 2 months to have an "aha!" moment and realize that perhaps my synthroid levels are too high. Not too high on the lab chart, but too high for me. (Have had labs done 3 times in past 2 months).
I have heard that as we get older, we require less replacement hormone, but when does that start?
Or, am I having antibody flare ups?
I feel like I am losing my mind, what should I ask my Dr. next time I see him? I told him last week that I am going drop from 8 pills a week to 7 (.125 mg), and have labs checked again in 6 weeks. Should I also ask for the antibody test?
I am seriously losing it, so any advice is greatly appreciated.

Hello – The study that was done that showed a connection between excessive doses of replacement hormone and hip fractures was done on patients aged 70+. The concern was that some of these individuals had stayed on the same dose for decades without having their levels checked periodically. I’ve heard of patients of *all* ages who needed to have their dosage of replacement hormone adjusted from time to time — not necessarily related to age.

If you know you feel better at the middle or bottom end of the range, hopefully, your doctor will work with you to adjust your dose so that you can hit that target. I don’t know that an antibody test would affect your course of treatment right now, but if it would put your mind at ease, it’s certainly worth asking your doctor.

Hope that you can get some relief!
