Nick,
Hang in there. It took me 4 months to show a real change toward Hypo numbers to say that my RAI had worked. I went lower and lower on my TSH until then. It will change it just takes too much time!ewmb
Hi everyone. Like I said before I will keep posting with updates periodically.
I have now reached 3 weeks after the Radioactive iodine treatment (with 10.9 mci of I-131). I feel well most of the time. Unfortunately, I still have days (actually mostly nights) of hyperactivity with my heart rate at 100-120bpm. My blood pressure these nights is slightly elevated too at 135/80. No other symptoms though. My weight is still the same (+/- 2lb) and no significant changes with my eyes or skin. I have no pain in my neck or thyroid area.
My latest lab results from Friday (at the 3 week mark) showed a slightly elevated FT3 (though still within the normal range) at 3.8, a slight drop in FT4 at 1.1 and TSH still at <0 (with ref ranges: FT3 2.3-4.2, FT4 0.8-1.8, TSH 0.4-4.5). So after having my apt with my endo, I am to continue the Tapazole (10mg/day) plus beta blockers until my TSH moves up within normal range or if I become hypo.
The combination of normal FT3 and FT4 with undetected or below normal TSH is defined as Subclinical Hyperthyroidism.
I wonder if the elevation of free T3 means that the thyroid is dumping T3 as the cells get deactivated slowly from the radioactivity. I must say I am anxious to see my hormone numbers dropping more.
Nick
That is helpful ewmb. I am around the same time frame as Nick. Lots of questions. I hope to have more months of feeling like I have been lately. ” title=”Smile” />
You say it took 4 months to see number changes…but how were you feeling in the months leading up to that? Any diff?
