Good luck! As I recall, those first couple of days were really boring. <img decoding=” title=”Very Happy” /> Nothing dramatic should happen to you physically, so rent yourself some movies, get some good tunes to listen to, plan to sit around playing on the computer ~ it’s HARD to keep yourself entertained when you feel like such a shut-in!!

Each doctor’s office is different with their precautions, but when I did my RAI, I was told to eat from disposable plates and use plastic utensils. If your doctor has recommended this particular precaution, remember to get disposable BOWLS if you like soup & such. <img decoding=” title=”Very Happy” /> I almost forgot, it would have been a tragic circumstance! Also, my doctor gave me a wonderful piece of advice. Since even touching things can mean you need to wash them off afterward, he recommended that I get gardening gloves, the kind with the rubber knobby-grabber things on the fingers, and use them so I didn’t have to rinse every single thing I laid a finger on. I had a fresh pair for each of the first three days, and I just threw them away afterward. You don’t excrete much of the RAI in the sweat on your fingers, but it helps to keep every little bit of worry away.

Let us know if other questions come up!

I have to mention this….KUDOS to DH for taking time off to help you! That is SUPPORT and thank God he is helping out. Way to go Rhonda’s Husband!!!

We’ll be thinking of you girl!!!! Keep us posted, do you have a laptop so you can post while your told to go to your room? I think I would Try to think of this as a tiny vacation. If you don’t you might get upset or depressed, we don’t want that happening. Maybe Get some flowers for your room tomorrow so they are in there and nice and ready for when you get home from the treatment. Clean up the room as best as you can so you aren’t looking at clutter because that can depress you too. Buy some Juice boxes and chips and chocolate <

even some water bottles and have them in the room with a little garbage can.

Buy some construction paper and crayons for YOU and the kids and you write cards to them and let them do it for you as well every day that you are in there and slip them under the door.

Buy paper plates, plastic bowls and utensils so that you can use them and throw them out, instead of dh having to be careful how he washes your stuff.

Buy chips and salsa in case you want a snack and don’t want to run out to the kitchen for it. Or to make it even easier, buy chips already with salsa on them

Can you all tell i’m hungry!! Well just making sure you are fed. I have issues with people who are hungry, sort of an OCD about it so I like to make sure you aren’t sitting in your room bored or hungry.

Thanks Ski and Mama….actually if I am feeling up to it I plan on cleaning out dresser drawers and things that have needed to be done for a while now and I haven’t been able to get to. I like the gloves idea….gonna get some great hand lotion to put on before the gloves too and use it as a beauty treatment time too!!!!! And if I can…I am gonna sleep my head off….I haven’t been able to sleep in well….since I was in ICU after my stroke. Nope…no laptop here…so I’ll just whipe down the big one in the living room after using it. YES…..Mac is awesome…he’s actually already talked to his mom about me coming over there if it gets too rough on me having to stay away from the kids. But at least being able to hug and kiss them twice a day is better then nothing a day. I’m kinda looking at it from the point of view of practice for when I go to California in May for 4 days without hubby or the girls for Richards’ USMC Graduation. Plus I’m gonna be making lists of stuff to take to Cali…so I should be just fine. Plasic and paper wear…liking those idea’s too. Thanks…and I’ll keep ya posted.

Also stock up on drinking water and ice. They want you to drink lots of water on those days following taking the"pill".

Ok folks…for those of you who know this RAI thing better then me…I’m going for it on Wed. I called today to find out the dose…I told the gal I didn’t want him to tickle my Thyroid gland…I want it graveyard dead…sorry for the pun. She said since my uptake was 45%, anything under 50 he gives the lower doses too. Plus my numbers are ok for the moment and when he took my antibodies…they were pretty low…as in 16 they consider a positive for graves…mine was at 19 at the end of Dec. I am assuming that since my antibodies aren’t really high, this will help in not attacking my eyes after it takes out the Thyroid.

On another note..they finally are getting me scheduled with an Oncologist/Hemo. They think they can account for the white cells being up so high because the steroids for my headaches, but my endo doesn’t like my RBC numbers, so he is sending me out there.

So….I’m excited and nervous all at the same time. The hardest part will be being in the house with the kids. My doc says I can hug and kiss them 2 times a day…other then that I will stay locked up in my room. Hubby is taking time off of work. I’ll keep ya’ll posted as to how I’m doing.
