    Congratulations Lacie,
I know that you are excited. I am now three weeks on with my 25mcg and going through ups and downs with things readjusting. Blood work next week to see if we need to readjust the dose yet. I hope you have an easier time. I remember that same feeling of trepidation taking the first dose. Great news! Celebrate a little, it is a BIG DEAL.

Congradulations, Lacie. You are on the road to health again.

I wouldn’t fret about going to spleep. I learned at one of our conferences about how people who have had thyroid cancer used to ( maybe still do) have to go off the replacement hormone for WEEKS in order to have periodic tests to make sure they didn’t have ANY thyroid cells left. Those folks had their thyroids surgically removed and then had large doses of RAI to try to kill off all thyroid cells. They would go much, much more hypothyroid than you are. I couldn’t imagine how awful that must feel! And it put things a bit into perspective for me.

    Take care.

Nurse called to tell me I am hypo today. TSH 29.330 and started 50 mcg levo. I knew they’d be calling so I purposely didn’t eat, that way when I got done at work (around noon) I could go pick up my scrip and get started. I was kinda scared to take it at first, and I sat there in the grocery store parking lot for a bit thinking about what a strange adventure this has all been. Then Toby Keith came on the radio singing that new one he’s got out "gotta love this American ride" and I took my bottle water and cracked it open and bottoms up, down went my first cute little butterfly pill! RAI wasn’t bad at all- other than when I knew I was hypo and couldn’t convince the doctor to start me on replacement. I will be relieved if my pulse just gets out of the 30’s so I’m not afraid to go to sleep. Some energy would be nice, too. Oh, and maybe I can lose some of this 15 pounds I’ve gained in the past 2 months… or at the very least I can quit gaining now… I’ll be keeping you all posted! <img decoding=” title=”Cool” />

Wow that was fast! Congrats! You did RAI pretty soon after the diagnosis, maybe it’s the earlier done, the faster the results? I feel like if I hadn’t waited for 3 months after my diagnosis (during which my eyes got involved), I might have gotten out of the hole faster, like you. But, who knows.

    Good stuff!
