Yes, hair loss is a symptom of either hyper or hypothyroidism, or changes in thyroid levels. I didn’t lose hair while hyper, though many people do. Mine started when I went hypo following RAI, and continued for more than three years while my thyroid slowly died out more, requiring continued upward adjustments in replacement hormone. (It grew back in, so I’ve had short hairs of all different lengths growing in among my long hairs.)

The excess hair loss continued for a year after I was stabilized on Armour, and then I finally had a few months with normal hair loss. The excess hair loss started in again recently along with some new hypo symptoms. What a pain!
