Having gone through RAI October of ’98, I can share my experience with you. I too felt fine for a while, but within 6 weeks, I “crashed” and became hypo. My endo never warned me about hypo symptoms so I didn’t know what was wrong with me and wasn’t due to see him for another few weeks.

My hypo symptoms were so severe, I ended up in the ER twice! They took a blood test and informed me I had no thyroid. If I had been monitored more closely by my endo, I could have avoided all that and started on synthroid sooner before my entire system slowed to a standstill!

Hopefully you are being checked by your endo closely. If you begin to develop muscle weakness, heavy menstrual flow, extremely dry skin and/or hair, slurring of speech, slow reflexes (I had all this and more!) you could be hyper. Be sure to stay in close contact with your doctor and you should be fine. Best of luck to you,

Renee
