I received a potential Graves Disease diagnosis last week. Tonight, I received the confirmation from the Dr’s office. I’m unsure of the results/how to read. The letter lists the Test – then Value with a # next to each. Beside that is the Reference Range. Does that mean the Value is my test result and the Reference Range is the “range? it should be in?
I appreciate any assistance. Thank you.
Hello and welcome! All lab results are formatted a little differently, but yes, the “value” should be your specific number and “range” should be the normal range that your lab has established for that test.
My lab will bold results that are outside the normal range and will include a “L” or “H” for results that are lower or higher than the normal range.
Hopefully, you have a followup scheduled with your doc soon to go over your specific results and the treatment options that are available.
Hello, sorry about the diagnosis but glad you found us. I’m curious….. how did you get a diagnosis of colitis confirmed through lab tests/blood work? I thought they only could do that by taking a biopsy and looking at the tissue under a microscope? What blood tests did you have that are confirming the doc’s diagnosis?
SueHi Sue – This was a diagnosis of Graves’ disease. Always nice to “see” you, though!
Oh my word…… can we chalk that up to Graves brain? 😮 This poor woman comes on here asking to have her confusion cleared up and I throw MORE confusion into the mix by questioning her colitis diagnosis! Note to self: don’t keep the thyroid forum and the colitis forum open at the same time anymore!
My apologies to the original poster. I’m not always this ditzy…. sometimes I actually have something useful to offer!
