I`m three months post RAI and wondered other people`s symptoms at around that time?
I`ve got three symptoms left- tiredness and joint pain and muscle pains, and the pains are getting less.
So is/was the tiredness the last symptom of hypothyroid to go for any of you?I don`t know anyone who`s had RAI and although we`re all different in our recovery it would be good to know your symptoms at that time and how long before you felt back to your usual self?
Thanks
Joy xI had my RAI way back in May 2014. Still in the normal range, at least a month ago I was. Not sure now but they said my TSH was 3.5 and over 4.0 is the beginning of Hypo. I was told it would take 18 weeks but that would have been around end of October! MY dosage was small compared to others, 30mc. I hope it stays so I won’t have to take meds but they say eventually I will go hypo. I guess its wait and see.
My symptoms have been very dry skin and eyes. Sometimes in the mornings I almost can’t open my eyes because they are so dry (?). I also had thinning hair but now its coming back slowly! Yey for that! I have also had a few aches and pains. My main complaint is that I am tired a lot.
Sometimes I still have a hard time sleeping so I do eat a small home made marijuna brownie and it helps me sleep good! (I live in WA and have a medical card!)
Oh also my thyoid has gone way down from a big hot nodule on the left side, and its almost back to normal size!!
I had taken meds for hyperthyoid over 12 years ago and then got allergic to it so I stopped it. I was doing ok for about 10 years then it became over active again so they advised me to do the RAI and be done with it. I am glad I did it and hopefully it will be ok once it stablizes. I have only gained 4 lbs and that is suprising to me even though my digestion has slowed way down.
I inherited it from my maternal Grandmother who also got the eye disease. I am thankful I did not get that but I have had an eye infection I think from my eyes being so dry.
Good luck to you and I hope this info helps you in some way! God Bless!
teresa, the dry eyes can be helped with dry eye gel at night before bed,the gel is more effective then the drops for severe dry eyes.i have the eye disease and had to tape my eye shut for a while at night.i also had tearduct plugs put in my lower ducts.wich improved my symptoms by at least 50%.and for the dry skin i use oatmeal lotion or bath, the less alcohol in the lotion the better. hope this helps connypie
