    Hi,

My thyroid levels have dropped again. I was feeling so well mid-July through mid-September with both FT4 and FT3 levels mid-range. About 2 weeks after my OD I noticed a change toward hypo symptoms. Labs have confirmed that my levels are low for me. Technically normal, but that low end of the range is just not a good place for me. (Leaves me feeling especially cold and stupid…and fluffy.) Endo reduced my MMI dose. Also tried to find non-thyroid reasons (hemoglobin, vitamin D, etc) for my symptoms. Couldn’t find any.

I’m wondering if the surgery, or the steroids after the surgery (although it was only a short, 6 day taper) would have had anything to do with my change in labs. And if so, will these levels come up again? I’ve found conflicting items with my search. Or, maybe I’m moving closer to remission, which endo says is possible, but she is pretty guarded when talking about this. (I get a vibe that I can try, but she doesn’t think it likely. I think she thinks TT is inevitable at some point, although she didn’t bring it up at last visit.)
    Thanks for your thoughts.

Hello – I’m more familiar with a risk of hyperthyroidism and thyroid storm associated with surgery, rather than hypo. And I’m not familiar with a connection between steroids and hypo.

However, others who have had surgery and steroid therapy will hopefully chime in with their experiences.

    Take care!
