    Hey guys!

I just wanted to give you an update on my progress since having RAI on 6/18/14. As a brief reminder I was given 10.5 millicuries of RAI and I was continued on 30mgs of Methimazole afterwards. This was a judgment call made with my Endo because I have fairly severe Graves’ and going months hyper without ATDs waiting for the RAI to work, if it ever did at all wasn’t an option. According to my blood labs from the past four months which I’ll post below the RAI appears to have taken effect in August. As of my last endo appointment on 10/1/14, I am almost naturally euthyroid without being on any medication currently which is awesome news. I feel very good and I hope I stay euthyroid naturally although I’m not banking on it. So far it has been successful.

Also, side note, I’ve experienced no weight gain despite being very hypo for a period. In fact, I lost 4 pounds.

    RAI: 6/18/14

    Labs:

    5/6/14 (Before RAI)
    TSH: 0.97 (0.40-4.50)
    FT4: 1.1 (0.80-1.8)

    7/19/14 (After RAI)

    TSH: 0.04 (0.40-4.50)
    FT4: 1.4 (0.80-1.8)

8/29/14 (Subsequently Stopped All ATD Medication)

    TSH: 80.23 (0.40-4.50)
    FT4: 0.4 (0.80-1.8)
    FT3: 1.1 (2.3-4.2)
    TSI: 420% Baseline (<120%)

    9/29/14 (On No Medication whatsoever)

    TSH: 7.67 (0.40-4.50)
    FT4: 0.9 (0.80-1.8)
    FT3: 2.9 (2.3-4.2)

Thanks for the update! Has your doctor talked to you about replacement hormone, based on TSH and T4? It’s definitely important to catch and treat any hypothyroidism very quickly post-RAI to reduce the risk of eye issues.

Take care – and keep us posted!
