Are any of you parents to children with Graves’? Are there specific forums regarding children? She started Methimazole last week and had to stop after 3 days due to swollen joints and lymph nodes. We obviously only have two options at this point and are looking for any been there, done that parents.

Hello – Most of our forum members here are patients, but we do have parents post here occasionally. I also know of a Facebook support group for parents; it’s not an official group of the Graves’ Disease and Thyroid Foundation (nor is it monitoried by the GDATF), but includes many family members who have come together to share their personal experiences. http://www.facebook.com/groups/265484340175004/. It’s a closed group, but you can request to join, and the organizers will send you a brief questionnaire to confirm that you are a Graves’ parent.

Were you able to get in touch with some parents? Did you get the information you needed? If not, let me know and we will find some parents for you.
I do know that thyroidectomies and/or RAI are legitimate choices for children–obviously special, specialists are needed.
