Hi everyone, what’s going on? I am going crazy! My body temperature must change every half an hour. One minute I am sweating and over heating then I am cold and my hands, feet and nose are freezing cold. What the heck is going on?
Should I forget about Tapazole and just get my thyroid out or what?!!!
Thanks for listening.Hi, how old are you? I go through this ALL day long sometimes. I have Graves’ and menopause. do you think it’s hot flashes?
I can be burning up one minute and then when that passes, I am freezing cold and usually all sweaty. very uncomfortable.Hi Lilly, seems you are just beginning your Graves’ treatment. Things will settle down, and of course, vanillasky’s comments are super relevant.
There are lots of posts here about how people made graves’ decisions. I depends on our own situation, and how we look at things, the worries we have, and our personalities, and occasionally an issue with the thyroid gland can dictate the right decision for that situation.
ME? I wanted the sucker out YESTERDAY! that is what i did it was sure right for me. others? different choices.
ShirleyHello – Having thyroid hormone levels out of balance can certainly impact body temperature. However, as Karen pointed out, other issues like menopause can have an impact as well. Are your levels currently stable? And have you mentioned these symptoms to your doctor? Also, hopefully, he/she is determining your dosing with the Tapazole based on Free T4 and T3, and not just on TSH. TSH can remain suppressed for quite some time in Graves’ patients, and the latest medical guidance notes that this is not a good benchmark for making dosing decisions early in the process.
In terms of the three treatment options, all have risks and benefits. The “Treatment Options” thread in the announcements section of the forum has two nice links that go through the pros and cons of each option.
Hope that you can get some relief soon!
