Hi all, I am having a procedure to try to lower my very retracted upper eyelids. This is with the purpose of covering more of my corner, which, in turn, might allow one of my eyes to stay closed when I sleep at night. This would be very good.
ShirleyGood luck to you today Shirley!
Best of luck to you today Shirley!
Good luck praying this works out for you.
I know you have traveled such a difficult road — wishing you success…and hoping you can toss your tape in the trash for good after this procedure!

PamHello everyone,
It is post op day day #5 after my upper eyelid surgery. The purpose is to lower the retracted lids, to cover more of my eye. It has not been a smooth post op course. I had a lot of pain, not expected at all with these procedures.
Turns out I had a corneal abrasion on each eye, one much more painful than the other. Took about 3 days to get that resolved, but putting on one contact lens over the abrasion. Apparently there were rough surfaces on the upper eyelid, plus one suture poking my cornea. Super painful. There is a lot of swelling still, despite having head of bed elevated and lots of cool compresses.
I don’t know the outcome of this yet, we are hoping that the lower lid will allow at least one of my eyes to stay closed while I sleep. Although Graves’ was terrible, I have found TED more life altering that GRaves’. And the lasting effects seem permanent. I would not wish it on anyone.
ShirleyHi Shirley – Wow, I’m so sorry to hear that the post-op period hasn’t gone smoothly. Were the corneal abrasions already there from not being able to close your lids all the way, or was this something that happened during the surgical procedure?
Here’s hoping that you can get through these next few days and that you will find that the procedure had a successful outcome. Wishing you all the best.
