The 6+ year remission I enjoyed was great. Still waiting on TSI but my endo said my levels were 5 times higher than the normal range. Super big rats! I’m starting on PTU since I experienced hives last time when I was on methimazole. I am also on Atenolol to bring down my tapid HR which is what tipped me off that I was out of range. I will do new labs and see my endo again in about 3 weeks. We’ll decide what to do next after we closer to normal ranges and we get my TSI number back. My endo said that last time it was out of range but not by a big amount. A not so high TSI might be predictive of a potential 2nd remission. Regardless, this time I’m not worried and luckily, I don’t have the crazy emotions like last time. I’ve got a great medical team that I trust, and I know that I’ll get better…it will just take a little time. However, I would have preferred to not be a member of the club again. :P

That is a huge blessing to be in remission for 6+ years. Gives me hope also. At least now you really know what type of battle you are in for and it isn’t as scary as the first diagnosis. Hang in there, stay positive, and stay communicative with your team. It seems like you have great doctors who are working and monitoring you. That is a blessing in and of itself. Good luck.
