I go in Friday Feb 17th for my total thyroidectomy, this will be the first ever surgery I’ve ever had so not sure what to expect lol. It’s been a fast past considering I was diagnosed with graves in Oct last year. I do have the eye bulging also so I’m going to have to deal with that next. Maybe it will reduce after surgery.

Well made it home. The surgery went over by 3 hours because my thyroid had 8 “arms” wrapped around everything.. Dr said I’d made his top 5 for toughest procedures. I feel great only taking some tylenol for the soreness and a ice pack.

That’s great! Thanks for writing your experience. I am sure others will appreciate it.

I had a thyroidectomy, too. As Kimberly previously said, there are some wonderful posts by others who have had a thyroidectomy. You’ll sail along and do well. Be prepared to be more tired that you expect to be at about week 3-6. I was surprised, when i felt so good, that I tended to hit the wall in the afternoon and want a wee small nap!
