Hi Dianne..MY EYES!!! They’re driving me crazy. My left eye is bulging out the most and feeling the most uncomfortable. In the morning, I look like the bag lady literally around the eyes. My eyes have always been one of my better features, and good eye contact was a strength…now I shun direct eye contact, hide away, squelch my entire personality…I try to rise above it, but it’s painful, and scary to think I may be on the trail to several eye proceedures surgically…It’s a spooky thought. I tried to do a little healing on myself with the sun in my face…MISTAKE…apparently additional radiation is contraindicated, or so said my eyes afterward. Have a nice holiday weekend. Where do you live?

Hi Rachel. . .yes, I too am extremely self-conscious about my eyes, and now that you mention it, I do avoid looking people in the eye. Fortunately, a couple of people have told me that my eyes are still beautiful. I’ve seen photos, and it astounds me! I wanna cry!
I wouldn’t have thought of trying the sun to help my eyes. My eyelids are already puffy and swollen. . .have been for over a year, but I had been hit by a car on my bicycle and had multiple surgeries on my broken nose, so thought it was from that. I’m seeing an ophthalmologist this week, as my vision is not good. Have you been referred to one yet?
I live in Idaho. My new idea is to collect pictures of peoples’ eyes (only) who want to be displayed on my homepage. I have a scanner, and can select only the eye area from photos. We can start a new standard of beauty! What do you think. . .would adding a little humor to a condition we can’t control help? Anyone interested? feel free to email me! Keep in touch, Rachel. . .we’ll get through this!

Hi Dianne,, I had this long typed response prepared to send, so I sent it and it got lost in space somewhere, so now I have to do this again and hope it reaches you. I got a chuckle out of your humouous approach to our bulging eyes and I’m in. I may not be anle to E-mail a photo to uou so It would have to be in the mail. Details, please on where you are, ok? Yes, I’ve seen an opthamologist since June, when I was diagnosed. My eyes just keep on “bugging” me daily, like the 1st half of every day…After awhile some of the puffiness a swelling drains down a bit. The only thing they’re telling me to do is lubricating eye drops and ointments at night. I still don’t have to tape my eyes shut at night, and I hope I never have to. Some of the eye stories are scary. Let me know how it goes at your eye appt. …and where in Idaho do you live? I appreciate your humor, girl…I NEED it! Thanks. I’ll stay in touch

Hi Rachel. . .thanks for being game. I’m sure we can provide some amusement and mutual admiration for ourselves and our fellow recipients of this BEAUTIFUL Buggy Stare! We can stop being self-conscious and start being PROUD! Bulgy is Beautiful! Any other takers? Email me!
This week, over 2 months after the atomic cocktail, the symptoms are still present, but noticeably less severe. . .I’m wondering if I’m getting close to beginning the hypo side of things. I’m rather afraid of that. Are you having any improvement yet, Rachel? Keep in touch, and check your email!

OK, OK, I’ll be game, Dianne, but I’m having a bad eye day today. My left eye feels like it’s popping out of my eye socket and it’s pretty inflamed also. I’m also less symptomatic than I was and am wondering if my hyper is converting to hypo…trying now to hold out for another lab draw just before I see the endocrinologist on 9/27… Won’t know much till then, but my shakes are less and I’m backing off of the inderal and ativan. I’m tired and lacking in ambition and focus. I’m sure glad I don’t have to work right now, but I wonder if I need synthroid yet…the waiting game… Thanks for staying in touch…Is this the E-mail that got sent back or is there another message out there somewhere?
    Rachel
