Speaking of how trauma can trigger Grave’s disease (so they say) I had something strange happen when my eyes were at their worst. I was out rock climbing (blind rock climbing is still fun!) and I pulled a big rock loose. The rock (about a foot across) hit me on the leg and landed on my big toe which was perched on a ledge.

The toe was smashed real good and split open like a squashed tomato requiring a few stitches. That night, it was really crazy but my eyes cleared up dramatically! This lasted for about a week. Of course the doctor kinda just smiled when I told him.

An accupuncurist told me I must have hit the right spot.

Note: this is not an endorsement of smashing your toe with a rock to clear up your eyes. Use this method at your own risk.
