In the evenings lately I keep feeling like I have something in my right eye (the worst eye). It gets pretty uncomfortable and I put in some of the thick lubricant. By morning it feels ok again but am getting concerned that I’m getting a dry spot like you were talking about. I can’t get in to see the eye doc ’till friday. Is this how yours started?
