Laura, the RAI doesn’t make the hair fall out. Having thyroid levels that are too high, or especially too low, can cause hair loss.

    Hi Laura,

As my physician brother-in-law says – Your hair doesn’t fall out when your hyper,
it becomes brittle and breaks off. I had RAI about 2 weeks ago so I don’t know about
hair loss from hypo (falling out or breaking off). He said as you go hypo you may notice
some shedding – not to the point of baldness, of course and it is reversible (I assume he means
    when you stabilize).

    Hello Everyone,

I’m new to this BBoard and I appreciate all the comments everyone
gives each other. There is a supportive feeling you get when you
read the comments of other’s going through the same thing you are.

I would like to know after you receive the
RAI treatment. How much hair do you lose and how long does it fall
out and when does it start to grow back? I know this varies from
person to person, but I would like to get an idea of the best and
worst cases. I have decided to do the RAI treatment some time in
January. I’ve been taking Tapazole for the past 2 years–hoping for
    a miracle.

    Thanks.

    Laura
