Nancy, I certainly hope she is seeing an Ophthalmologist about this. It is a serious threat to the vision and she can be having high secondary Glaucoma and nerve involvement.
The “usual” procedure is to try to treat first with steroids (prednisone) and if it is still getting worse to consider orbital irradiation. Surgery is considered a last resort if the vision is still severly threatened, or after a couple of years once the eyes have stabilized for cosmetic purposes.
She needs to be watched for continuing proptosis (bulge), Glaucoma and nerve problems by the doctor.
