For those of you who were interested in the possibility of a link between Graves’ and Sjogren Syndrome (see earlier postings):
I got in touch with the current National Institute of Health’s Clinical Study of Sjogren patients and asked my question with the hypothesis that they are part of the same disease process. The director of the study emailed me to let me know that they do test all the Sjogren patients in their study for thyroid disease. He states that 50% test positive for hypothyroidism, but that a link with hyperthyroidism is rare. Interesting, no?
