Steve: It’s possible but doubtful that it’s the Levothyroxine that you’re having an allergic reaction to. Levo is just T4. It occurs naturally in your own body. It may be that you’re having a reaction to an additive or dye that is used to make the T4 into a pill form. What kind of reaction are you having?

I WAS ALLERGIC TO PTU, AND PROPANOL IN THE BEGINNING THEY
HAD TO CHANGE MEDS ON ME.NOW THAT IM ON NEW DRUGS AGAIN, IM NOT HYPER OR HYPO
THATS WHY I’M WONDERING IM ITCHING SOME HIVES, AND BELIVE
IT MIGHT BE THE DRUGS.THANKS, STEVE
Steve: Is Levo the only new med that you’re on? Usually, if you’re going to have a drug reaction, it’ll tend to happen within the first 24-48hours after you’ve begun taking the drug. Just having a history of thyroid problems can be a confounding variable however, because hives often afflict us, regardless of whether we’re hypo or hyper. Could it be a food allergy? Or maybe a soap allergy? A lot to rule out, I know, but these two things can cause hives also. Hope it gets better. Have you tried Benadryl?

THEY WONT DO FOOD ALLERY ON ME UNTIL THEY FIND OUT
IF THERES ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE HEART, I TELL YOU ITS A WAITING GAME WITH
THIS DISEASE.THANKS-PS HOW DID IT GO WITH YOUR DOC?
STEVE
Hi, Steve. I believe the answer to your question is “yes”, you can be allergic to the pill. Not, apparently, the synthetic hormone chemical itself, but the fillers and dyes that are added to it by the manufacturer. I read through the chemical composition of Levoxyl (?) and Synthroid and there are differences in the additives for them. I also believe it is possible to get the pills without the dyes at least, if your doctor knows that there is a problem. But I’m not absolutely certain of this.
HELLO , IS IT BE POSSIBLE TO BE ALLERGIC TO THIS MED
AND IF SO WHAT IS THE REPLACEMENT DRUG FOR THIS.
I BELIVE THAT I MAY HAVE A PROBLEM HERE,THANKS FOR
THE HELP ,STEVEDear Steve, It looks like you are in good hands with Luci to bounce
things off of regarding your unfortunate and mysterious hives.
I hope a doc will listen to you and really figure this out, but
in the meantime another possibility occured to me. Have you ever
considered that you might be allergic to girls?
Now don’t be taken this too seriously-You just haven’t
had enough to laugh about lately. Feel better soon.
JeannetteHi Steve,
I agree you’re probably allergic to the fillers in the levothyroxine. This can happen anytime. I have broken out in hives after 2-3 weeks on medications. Get in touch with your doctor ASAP. If it’s really bad (big egg-size lumps) you should go to an emergency room, otherwise Benadryl will help.
no jeanette cant be that , i’ve taken a hoilday
unless you know someone who can put up with my graves.later-steve
