My doctor told me the inital thyroid scan you need from a specialist in nuclear medicine runs around $1000 and then each dose of RAI runs $500-$1000. I guess prices vary from place to place, but probably somewhere in that range. If all else fails, call a nuclear med. doctor and ask. I know how you feel about wanting insurance. I am only 19 and don’t have any. Medicaid won’t accept me. I had it while I was pregnant (hospital bill alone was over $5500, plus my own OB/GYN’S fee’s and then the hospital doctor’s fees; I know it ran over $12000). But otherwise, I have ran up over $10000 in hospital/doctor bills on my own for this stupid DZ. I can’t pay them and have collection agencies all over me. It’s pathetic to think I might have to file Chapter 7 at age 19 because of Graves DZ, isn’t it?
