thanks, steve

Yes Terry, before my thyroid replacement started helping, I was a raving maniac, becoming quickly overwhelmed if two things were going on close to me at once, and unable to mentally focus very well. Mood swings as when hyper, certainly! Had the muscle cramps too, and weakness.
RAI three times, wow! So tell us, which was worse for you, hyper or hypo? Do you know if your parathyroids were damaged by so much RAI? Normally I don’t think they aren’t affected by the damage to the thyroid. It’s rare to have RAI three times.

Terry, I have the eye part of the Graves’ disease without too much thyroid involvement and I was a total mental wreck for quite a while with mood swings, etc. Somehow it seems this disease can affect us no matter what the levels say!

I am a 47-year-old male. Had hyperthyroidism. treated 3 times RAI. Began experiencing ice cold feet, cramping muscles, etc. From these pages I knew this was signs of hypo-thyroid.
Had appt with endo very next day so cramping (though at the time worried me) was not such a concern and had experienced this before.
I wanted to know MY TSH. which was 78. this confirmed my thyroid was not functioning.
Stated my concern about cramping in every muscle. Was simply brushed off as being hypo thyroid.
While in hospitial had a problem with hypercalcemia. was kept in hospital because of this. told it was my parathyroid that was producing this excess of calcium.
What happens to my parathyroid gland now that thyroid is not functioning.
Have experienced drastic mood swings with this hypo thyroid, very similar to swings experienced when hyper. Is this normal?
Have gotten SMAL 12 test and am seeing primary doctor.
Hypo has made me even more explosive in my moods and agitation level tolerance level which was low to begin with. Anyone have similar experiences?
forgot to mention. started taking .125 synthroid daily as of 3/19. dont feel much better but cramps have subsided.
would be interested to hear responses.
now Hypo and more confusedI had RAI approximately 3 years ago and am taking Synthoid Lately I have been having severe muscle cramps and and a lot of the symptoms I had between RAI and Synthroid. Just had my TSH done and is 1.4 The doctor can find no explation for the way I feel. I am also taking PremPro (estrogen replacement therapy) and was wondering if this may have any effect on the way Syntrhoid works.
