    For those of you who are struggling with this disease and personal and professional relationships, I bring you a part of my Native American Heritage in this poem in the hopes that it will ease your troubled mind and spirit:

    O Great Spirit
    Whose voice I hear in the winds,
    And whose breath gives life to all the world,
    Hear me!
    I am small and weak, I need your strength and wisdom.

    Let me walk in beauty,
    Make my eyes
    Ever behold the red and purple sunset.
    Make my hands respect the things you have made
    And my ears sharp to hear Your voice.

    Make me wise
    So that I may understand the things
    You have taught my people.
    Let me learn the lessons
    You have hidden in every leaf and rock.

    I seek strength,
    Not to be greater than my brother,
    But to fight my greatest enemy
    –my selfishness.

    Make me always ready to come to You
    With clean hands and straight eyes.
    So when life fades, as the fading sunset,
    My spirit may come to You without shame.

    Bless the wisdom of the Holy One above us;
    Bless the truth of the Holy One beneath us;
    Bless the love of the Holy One within us.

    May the Great Spirit watch over you and heal you one and all!

    Hi BJV!
    I can relate to how you feel if your hypo! I became hypo very quickly after Radioactive Iodine Treatment yr. and a half ago. I was SO out of it I didn’t know how I could wake up to another day and take care of my kids, house,etc. Went to get my blood checked and sure enough I went under FAST. Dizzy ,heavy anxiety, cold exhausted, couldn’t think straight,etc. Go get your levels out and make sure your synthroid is at

Dizzy ,heavy anxiety, cold exhausted, couldn’t even think straight but as my synthroid kicked in and couple wks. passed I was beginning to feel better everyday. I also went to see a counsler in the meantime to get me through this emotional time until I got leveled out in the thyroid dept. Hypo symptoms can mimic depression. There’s some good meds you can get on that a mental health proffesional can get you on until you get leveled out because you don’t and shouldn’t have to feel like this. Did you receive RAI for graves or are you just hypo? Has it been awhile since you’ve had your levels checked? It can be an up & down thing for awhile with med adjustment but YOU WILL FEEL BETTER! Hang in there and find out what you might take through the transition!
