    Hi Wanda

I live in what would be considered a small area. The internist I am seeing (no endo here) said that he had seen roughly 80 Graves’ patients over a period of 12 years. A good estimate of the population would probably be around 100,000 for the area that I would guess this clinic serves. So, 1/4 of 1% would be 250! Hmmmmm.

My wife was recently diagnosed with GD, we have been seeing
a pretty bad endo. Does any one have any good personal
recommendations that we can have. Also we were wondering
if anyone has personal knowledge of pregnancy after RAI. Thanx

    Hi Will-

I started trying to have a baby 6 years post-RAI. I did get pregnant post-RAI after almost 3 years of infertility with the help of fertility drugs. They could find absolutely no reason for my infertility except they later found that I wasn’t ovulating. But they didn’t know why I wasn’t ovulating.

We’re now trying again and haven’t had any luck so far (no fertility drugs yet). I was told RAI wouldn’t affect my fertility in the future and it probably didn’t. But my thyroid gland was dead because of it. Later, I found that I was kept hypothyroid for many years despite normal standard lab tests and we’re still trying to straighten me out. Gee, I wonder if that could have anything to do with it?

If you have any other questions, you can email me at jutek@psnw.com.

    Take care,

    Julie
