Ok, let me try this again and not ramble so long it gets cut off when I post it!
I hope everyone had a spectacular time at the conference. I was dying to go, especially being diagnosed just a few months ago and not getting a whole lot of answers outside of what I research on my own.
To continue my story, I had gone to my PCP this past April and brought up the palpatations and rapid pulse. It had gotten frequent enough at that point that it “performed” for the doc and he became quite concerned. Well, after an EKG and an evening of being sent to the ER with more EKGs and wearing a halter monitor all the next day, my heart was fine and my thyroid levels were discovered to be the problem. After a follow-up with my PCP, the thyroid tests were run again and confirmed hyperthyroid. My PCP suspected the cause being Graves’, he wanted to be sure. I’m missing one of the most common side effects of the disease: weight loss. I’ve steadily gained weight over the last few years, maintaining for a while and just recently starting to gain again. I keep joking “why couldn’t I get the weight loss symptom!”
although I know that’s not a healthy loss of weight. But I also realize that this is only feeding my depression symptoms and turns it all into a viscious cycle.
Ok – call me paranoid, but I really don’t want to go through typing this again, so I’m going to post this in parts. To be continued… ![:) :)](https://forum.gdatf.org/wp-includes/images/smilies/smile.gif)
